Field Trip Leader:   Skyler Fox

Description:  Join Marie Mellinger award recipient and Sea Grant funded researcher Skyler Fox from the Leege Lab at Georgia Southern for an informative exploration of coastal sand dunes, Tybee Island’s restoration projects and research, and how you can help protect these vital ecosystems. This program will begin at Tybee Island beach near the Center Street crossover, where Tybee Project Manager Alan Robertson will introduce the island’s beach restoration initiatives.

Skyler will then share her research as a Sea Grant Research Trainee and guide us on a tour of her research sites for hands-on, field-based learning!  We’ll use a variety of instruments and field techniques to observe native dune plant species and how Tybee’s sand dunes respond to human activity.

Registration is required. While this program was created with adults and young adults in mind, children ages 10 and up are welcome but must be accompanied by a registered adult. Tickets are non-refundable.? Please note that there will be an additional parking fee to park on Tybee Island.
