Description:    We will explore the granite outcrop at Clinton Nature Preserve.  Granite outcrop plant communities are endemic to the southeastern United States and host a number of unique and rare plant species.  The elf orpine should be on full display, as well as the threatened pool sprite.  We will hopefully see some other mesic forest inhabitants on our walk to the outcrop, including the southern twayblade orchid.

There are numerous trails attendees can explore after our walk.  These include a one-mile hike into the woods to the Carnes Cabin, a pre-Civil War residence that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
