Description:   Practice and grow your botanizing skills in a diverse prairie ecosystem within a maintained powerline ROW. We will also be discussing the methods utilized in a pollinator planting and stormwater management project using native plantings. We will see a variety of native grasses including little bluestem, Indiangrass, couch grass and deer muhly grass as well as a variety of asters and other native perennials including coreopsis species, rattlesnake master, narrowleaf sunflower, Indian plantain, wild bergamot, mountain mint and golden aster. As interest and time allows, other areas of the Preserve are open for exploration through mixed hardwood forest, riparian stream areas and wetland meadows. Additionally there is a curated educational garden at the Ecology Center with a beautiful collection of native flowering plants and identifying name plaques.
