Field Trip Leader:    Juliana Smith

Description:   We will ramble through Webb WMA, South Carolina’s first WMA, to enjoy the fall wildflower season. This expansive property possesses several habitat types from upland pine savanna all the way to bottomland hardwood forests of the Savannah River floodplains. We’ll spend our time caravanning to different sites at Webb, paying particular attention to the diversity of fall wildflowers in the upland pine savannas, and only just barely visit the edge of the floodplain. This program will focus on the various pollination and seed dispersal strategies of flowering plant families, getting up close and personal with flower anatomy, pollination mechanisms, and seed structure as opportunities present themselves. Beginning plant-enthusiasts are welcome.

Location & Directions:    2680 Augusta Stage Coach Rd, Garnett, SC 29922.  PLEASE  NOTE – This address and Google Maps link brings you to a church, but Webb WMA is across the street.
